Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, is packed full of intricate temples and shrines with some dating back to the 14th century and others over 2000 years old. Here you’ll find the Old City where a tour will tell you everything you need to know about Nepal’s history. Visit busy local craft markets and take in the atmosphere at the Garden of Dreams. Both Buddhist and Hindu sites are represented here, with spectacular architecture recognised by UNESCO as world heritage sites. The three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu region aren’t to be missed, which were originally the sites of royal palaces. Also look out for the colourful monasteries, many of which are built up in the hills and are a serene place to watch the sunset.

To the west, Phewa Lake can be found in Pokhara Valley. A freshwater lake so clear you can see the reflection of the surrounding snow-capped mountains in its surface, and full of small wooden fishing boats for locals. Devi’s Falls is close by, where you can discover the underground waterfall. Wildlife may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Nepal, but Chitwan offers incredible jungle safaris with trekking through tropical forests. Expect elephants, rhinos, tigers and crocodiles in stunning surroundings.

Nepal’s culture is steeped in its religious history and intricately tied to the mountains, and so it is unique among its neighbouring countries. Over 100 different ethnic groups speaking 70 languages are spread out across a country vulnerable to natural disasters and the effects of climate change. By taking part in one of our forward-thinking projects in Nepal, you’ll be able to combine the unmissable sights and attractions with a more personal experience rooted in local communities. You’ll be supporting vital projects in the Dhulikel region, east of Kathmandu, focused on rebuilding regular access to schooling and improving education infrastructure after the devastating 2015 earthquake.

The FutureSense
Foundation In Nepal

Although Nepal is rich in its cultural diversities and natural resources, it remains one of the poorest countries in the world. Natural disasters, unemployment, poverty, lack of quality education and health awareness, gender inequality and environmental pollution are some of the major challenges which Nepal has been coping with. We can address these challenges by building the capacity of each individual to understand their roles, potentials and values.
