Volunteer in exciting Thailand working with incredible organisations that will leave both a lasting impression on you and the communities around.
Although Thailand is increasingly being seen as a developed destination, it still has many economic and cultural problems. The truth is that although many of the islands have become westernised the majority of Thailand is poor and in need of help.
Thailand is a developing country that faces many social issues and marginalised groups, particularly children, often don’t receive the care and support they need. The schools and communities we work with are Institutions which are poorly funded and ill equipped to deal with the many social problems that people face. We work with selected local government and Buddhist schools to provide teaching programmes and renovation work, where it’s most needed.
Reward yourself after the challenge and visit the very best that Thailand has to offer, relaxing on the gorgeous golden sands of Ko Samui, Enjoying the famous Thai hospitality, Searching out the islands wildlife including monkeys, and gibbons.
Arrive into Chiang Mai Airport before 1pm the following day. Be met at the airport by our in country team and transferred to your accommodation in order to recover from your travels.
On this challenge, you will volunteer in our partner schools in a number of ways. Your main aim will be to help the children with their English skills. Most often children in these schools learn by rote, so to have volunteers spending time teaching them conversational English is extremely beneficial to their learning of the language. You will teach for approximately 3 hours in the morning and then after lunch you will either continue to teach or undertake a renovation project. This can be either refurbishing or refreshing the school, previous volunteers have redecorated classrooms with educational murals, built a hand washing station in the playground and even constructed a library. Extra-curricular clubs in the afternoon gives you the chance to show the kids something new. Whether its arts and crafts, sports, drama or something else the children will be eager to try it out!
Return to Chiang Mai for your flight back to the UK. If you are going on the extension trip you will fly to Koh Samui to start the second half of your adventure!
