University Charity Challenges!

Spend your summer doing something incredible and worthwhile! Join on to one of our student challenges today for just £250 and start your fundraising! Spaces are limited and are on a first come first served basis. GET INVOLVED TODAY!

The Challenges…

Our challenges offer an exciting combination of community volunteering and adventure travel and are open to all university students across the UK. Each trip has aparticipation fee of £250 with additional fundraising targets from as little as £1050. This covers the full cost of your challenge plus a charitable donation to our registered charity, the FutureSense Foundation. see below to find out more about the fundraising aspect of these charity challenges.

How to apply
Places are limited on each challenge and allocated on a first come, first served basis. Click ‘Book Now’ on your chosen expedition to reach the booking page for that trip. Participation fee and fundraising target cover cost of flights, guided trek, volunteer project, food and accommodation plus a fundraising contribution to the FutureSense Foundation.

Fundraising
Our university charity challenges will be raising money for the FutureSense Foundation (registered charity no: 1132101). This supports education, livelihood and child welfare programmes for disadvantaged communities across 8 countries worldwide. The volunteer work you do as part of these trips will allow you to get personally involved with the charity’s development work overseas and to gain new perspectives and cultural insights. Fundraising to cover the cost of the challenge can be done online by setting up a page at www.justgiving.com/futuresense.

While our adventure tours are open to anyone seeking a personal challenge, they are perfectly suited to larger groups, such as schools, universities, corporates and charities.

From trekking Nepal to climbing Kilimanjaro, our physical challenges offer a fantastic shared experience, which is only enhanced by volunteer work in local communities.

If you are organising a group adventure for a university, your company or any other private group, we can help you create a challenge that is perfectly suited to you. We have arranged bespoke trips and charity challenges for a diverse range of groups seeking unique travel experiences abroad.

When many people think of Africa, they are actually thinking of Tanzania. It is one of the most beautiful and politically stable countries in East Africa.

Tanzania contains some of Africa’s finest game reserves (Ngorongoro, Serengeti) as well as the roof of Africa: Mount Kilimanjaro. From the palm-fringed sands of Zanzibar on the coast, to the fabulous bush scenery near Arusha, there is no better way to experience Africa in safe and happy surroundings.

Tanzania borders Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Zambia, Burundi, Rwanda and Mozambique. Modern day Tanzania was formed in 1964 with the merger of Tanganyika and the island of Zanzibar. Migrating tribes from across Africa settled on the land as early as the first century BC, while Arab traders occupied the coastal regions from around the 8th century onwards.

The Portuguese added to the mix when they colonised the country from the 16th century. By the 19th century, a European presence was stronger than ever; explorers, notably Stanley and Livingstone, were arriving and the country became part of the German Empire until the British took control after WWI. This combination of influences makes Tanzania a culturally-rich country. The coolest months are from June to October and the warmest from December to March. Along the coast, there’s high humidity and temperatures averaging between 25°C and 29°C. On the central plateau, temperatures range from 20°C to 27°C between June and August. Between December and March they can soar above 30°C

If you plan on going on our charity challenges then the money you raise will go to our charity The FutureSense Foundation, which supports the local communities in which we work and where you will be volunteering.

Situated amidst the highest mountain range in the world, Nepal is a fascinating country, which has had a historic role as a crossroads of culture and commerce.

Dominated as it is by the mighty Himalayas, trekking Nepal is high on many people’s lists of ‘must-do’ activities. For those seeking a real adventure, trekking Everest poses the ultimate challenge. Our Everest Base Camp trip gives you the chance to challenge yourself with a high altitude trek that takes you through some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the world.

Despite its richness of culture and popularity as a trekking destination, Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world, with many communities living in straitened circumstances. With almost a decade of experience in supporting community volunteer work in Nepal, the Challenges Abroad team is perfectly placed to mobilise participants on our adventure tours into meaningful development work.

The snow-capped mountains and imposing volcanoes of the Andes make trekking Peru one of the highlights of South America. Complimenting its natural beauty, Peru has a rich history of pre-Columbian settlement and is home to Machu Picchu, ‘The Lost City of the Incas’.
