Can I stay on and defer my flight home if I want to travel??
In normal circumstances no. However, it may be possible under exceptional circumstances at an additional cost.
Will it just be my university on the expedition?
No, most expeditions are made up from students from a number of universities and is therefore a great chance to meet new people.
Do I get transport to the airport?
Not in the UK. The expedition starts and finishes at the airport in the UK, from then on all transport is included.
Do I need a Visa and is it included in the cost?
No. Visas are required for expeditions in Tanzania and India only. Challenges abroad will be able to give advice on the application, however, the minimal cost involved is not covered in the challenge cost. It is also worth noting that Challenges Abroad is not responsible in the unlikely event of an unsuccessful Visa application.
How much of the fundraising total goes to charity?
50% of the fundraising total goes to charity, the rest goes toward delivering the expedition. This includes flights, accommodation and food.
Do I need to have any vaccinations?
Yes, it is advised that all students seek consultation from the local doctors surgery as soon as possible and at least 3 months before you travel. This insures you receive comprehensive medical advice appropriate for that destination.
Can you set me up with a ‘ Just Giving’ page?
We are able to set you up with a ‘Just Giving’ page which can then be personalised as desired.
Where will I be staying?
Safe and appropriate accommodation is arranged for you and varies across the different expeditions and activities. Typically, you should expect to be camping or staying in basic guest houses during your treks. During the volunteer programmes you will be at local guest houses, hotels and homestays.
What do I need to take with me?
Prior to departure, all students will be provided comprehensive breifing notes which will include suggested packing list

What do I do once I have paid?
After you have paid your £100 you have until 15th January to pay the remaining £150 of your participation fee. You will be contacted after you sign up with more details. You will also receive your student pack which has everything you need to know!
How do I know i will be safe?
Challenges Abroad has experience of running these expeditions and put great emphasis on structuring every aspect of the trip to ensure proper consideration has been made to saftey. Destination treks and projects have all been thoroughly examined for risks and appropriate measures have been implemented in order to mitigate these as far as possible.
What happens if I can’t meet my fund rasing target?
Unfortunatly we will require all fundraising targets to be met at least 1 month prior to depature. We will make every effort to support you in this task.
